Promoting Health Services for All: Situation and Challenges

Bangladesh NGOs Network for Radio and Communication (BNNRC) organized a Multi-stakeholder Seminar on Promoting Health Services for All: Present Situation, Challenges and Way Forward for an in-depth discussion on health-service issues on 09 September 2021 to ensure quality health services for all with the support of The Asia Foundation at Zabeer Hotel International in Jashore.
The purpose of the seminar was to discuss the current status of the health sector, challenges, and ways to forward with multi-stakeholders at different levels to further enhance the capacity of the health sector and consider how to make healthcare more accessible and utilize the existing resources. A total of 40 participants from CSOs, Government offices, representatives from the Anti-Corruption Commission, journalists, teachers, elected representatives, and community people participated in the seminar.
At the beginning of the seminar, Mr. AHM Bazlur Rahman, CEO of BNNRC, discussed the goal, objectives, perspectives of the seminar; the challenges which are being faced in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution; and how to keep pace with the current era of technology. Mr. M.R. Khairul Umam, Ex-President of, Institution of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh (IDEB) moderated the seminar.
At the beginning of the seminar, Mr. Hiren Pandit, Program Coordinator, BNNRC, discussed the aims and objectives of the seminar. Mr. M R Khairul Umam, Former President, IDEB, presided over the seminar and moderated the seminar. Mr. Farazi Ahmed Sayed Bulbul, Staff Reporter, Daily Ittefaq, Jessore presented the keynote.
Deputy Commissioner of Jashore district Mr. Tamizul Islam Khan was present as the Chief Guest at the seminar and highlighted the various efforts of the government. Mr. Sheikh Abu Shahin, Civil Surgeon, Jashore was present as a special guest and outlined the steps taken by the government and plans for the development of Jessore's health system. Assistant Director of Anti-Corruption Commission, Jessore, Mr. SM Munim Lincoln, Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Jashore Sadar, and Mr. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman, Superintendent Jashore 250 bedded district hospital spoke as guest of honor. Around 40 participants of the seminar took part in the open discussion shared their views and suggestions.
It is hoped that the issues raised in the seminar and the open discussion will be able to play a helpful and effective role in ensuring the provision of quality and quality healthcare to all, especially the disadvantaged and marginalized people.
